A note from Meghan: I rode the bus. I kinda cried when I got on for the way to school. And on the way back, I didn't. I had fun at school. I got to play with new friends and old friends from daycare and also with Andrew from across the street. At lunch I ate until it was time to go back. But I didn't have much time. The girl that was sitting next to me kept snatching my napkin. It made me mad because it was the napkin mom and dad wrote a note on. That's all I can remember right now. By the way, Gigi, there are 22 kids in my class.
A note from Mom: Getting Meg up from school this morning was super easy. We were ready 15 minutes early! I know you can't believe it, mom. We head out the the culdesac to wait for the bus. Andrew and Dylan were there to show her the ropes. She was all excited and big grins until the door the the bus opened and she was supposed to be getting on. Her eyes welled up and she looked at us like "you really want me to do this alone?!" I said, "go ahead, its your turn." Then promptly burst into tears. I was hugged by neighbors Dee and Earl. Dee felt bad for me. I have a feeling Earl thought it was hilarious. Kris was just embarrassed and tried to ditch me there in front of the bus stop. We drove to the school to see her get off the bus and take her to Mrs. Deckman's class. She was the first one off the bus, all smiles and sunshine.
The classroom drop off went much smoother. She didn't want her picture taken and there was a little bit of a scuffle. Eventually, Mrs. Deckman grabbed her hand and they posed for a picture together. I think she was tired of me hiding around the corner like paparazzi trying to take a picture of Meghan at the table!
We haven't been able to get much of the goings on during the school day out of her. I think she's a little overwhelmed. We were able to gather a little bit of info: There was a mean girl at lunch that kept trying to snatch her special napkin. Songs were sung, stories were read. She also spent recess playing with her buddy Andrew.
It's 8:30 and we are tired! We will catch up with you all next week. It's back to school on Wednesday.
I'll send you a special napkin Tanya so if you cry again you can use it. It sounds like she had a good day, except for the mean girl. Karma sucks, she'll get hers in high school. I still can't believe she's in kindergarten. I would cry also. In fact I teared up when I saw her picture waiting for the bus. She looks so big. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteMeghan - so cool you rode the bus! When Sierra went to kindergarten, she cried all the time I tried to get her to go in her classroom, then ran out the door after me! And I cried all the way to Mary's house after I dropped Sierra off. You're very brave!
